Memphis: Final Thoughts

Beale street was loads of fun. It's a bit of a crazy 2 block area that attempts to recreate New Orleans. You can drink on the street, the bars are open really late (all night perhaps) and there is a general feel of complete and utter resignation to the whims of alcohol. My kind of place really.

But Memphis is overall a bit of a hole. We followed Sheila's (The Tomtom GPS) directions all around the city and we seemed to be perpetually in the hood. Really dodgy all around. I mean really do we need to be reminded of these types of messages?





We went to Graceland but chose not to take the tour. Mostly due to monetary constraints. $30 per person? Really? We did drive by and get our picture taken outside the mansions grounds. People wrote messages all over the outer stone fence. Pretty cool.
